Women's Ministries

    Open to all women of the church, we strive to encourage and serve women based on the mandate of Titus 2:2-5.  Various social events during the year help us to reach out in fellowship, share the Gospel, and encourage each other in all seasons of life. 

            Meeting/Planning sessions: first THURSDAY of the month, 6:00 p.m. (summer break May - August)

        Special events during the year include a Valentine Dinner, a Mother Daughter Banquet, a cook-out, afternoon tea, and a Christmas event at the Butterworth Center.

            We also work closely with First Evangelical Free Church, Moline to make Bible Study and Outreach events happen for women of our community.

WHITE CROSS A Missionary Focus for women

            White Cross meets once a month to supply our missionaries and those they serve with different types of hand-crafted items.  Do you like to sew?  We make quilts, layettes,  and lap robes.  We also put together sewing kits for women in Africa, so they can learn to make dresses for girls and shorts for boys to wear.  One of the children's favorites is a red backpack. We often post lists of materials needed in the bulletin.         

   CURRENT MATERIAL NEEDS ARE AS FOLLOWS: 

BABY LAYETTES:  1 and 1/3 YARDS FLANNEL PIECES

GIRLS DRESSES:  45 INCH WIDTH- size 8:   1 and 1/8 yards            size 10:  1 and 1/4 yards      size 12:  1 and 3/8 yards    size 14   1 and 7/8 yards

                           60 INCH WIDTH - size 8:   7/8 yards    size 10 and 12:   1 and 1/4 yards    size 14:  1 and 3/8 yards

BOYS SHORTS:  45 INCH SQUARE MATERIAL - makes 3-4 pairs of shorts

BACKPACKS:  PREFER BRIGHT RED FABRIC, POLYCOTTON OR CLASSIC TWILL:  1 YARD makes two backpacks

MISSIONARIES WE SUPPORT: 

Betty Walstedt, Child Evangelism Fellowship, Florida, Betty works with Bible clubs and afterschool programs to share Jesus' love with children. 

Clyde and Rebecca Porter, Evangelical Free Church missionaries in the Dominican Republic, Latin America.

We take offerings at each of our events for our missionaries' financial support.  We also pray for them at each gathering and read their newsletters to us.  In May 2009, we were blessed to have Rebecca Porter and her daughter provide the program at our Mother Daughter Banquet, speaking about the spiritual healing of their hearts and relationships.  In the Dominican Republic they are training and educating local pastors and wives about the importance of healing their own broken hearts, so that they may be more effective in sharing the Gospel with people around them.
